about Us
Who we are and how we got Our Start
Farming is something Beau grew up with. He was raised in Copeland Kansas on a farm producing corn, wheat, and milo with some cattle. Farming isn't just what you do. In western Kansas it's a way of life. I (Crystal) was raised in Kearney Missouri home of the infamous Jessie James, with a love at a young age for mechanics and all things John Deere. Together we have four children: two girls Grace and Hope and two boys, Courage and Valor. In 2016 we started a small vegetable garden. Two years later that garden turned into a farm. We officially started our journey in Douglas County on a small incubator farm with the city of Lawrence and their common grounds program. We have since expanded our first-generation farm, and we are now located in rural southern Miami County Kansas.
How We Got Our Name
We are often asked how we came up with the name Courage Farms. We had actually started out as Jirah farms. We changed the name in July of 2018 after losing our son Courage Jospeh Owen. We did this in remembrance of his life and in honor of the legacy he left as a heart donor.
